11 Must-Have Items for an Eclectic Living Room Makeover

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Cost Plus World Market and contains affiliate links. All opinions are my own.

I’ve been craving more color in my life lately, especially when it comes to home decor. I guess that’s part of why I was inspired to undertake a family room makeover (which I’m currently working on), which has also led to a dining room makeover, and then another small space makeover which I’ll be sharing with you soon. It’s like a domino effect. When I took a look at Cost Plus World Market’s Nomad Collection recently, I found all sorts of fun inspiration, and I thought I would put together a mood board for you with 11 must-have items for an eclectic living room makeover. If you love Boho or eclectic style, then this collection is for you! (Hover over the images for links to each product, or see the list below.)

12 DIY Living Room Projects {DIY Housewives Series}

We’ve returned from a little “DIY Housewives” hiatus, and this month we are teaming up to share 12 DIY Living Room Projects! If you’re not familiar with the DIY Housewives, it’s a monthly series where I partner with 11 other bloggers to share posts from our archives that fit a specific theme.

For this month’s theme, I’m sharing one of my very favorite pieces of furniture in our home. This library card catalog is located in our living room (aka my “mom cave”) and I refinished it a few years ago. It has quite a story behind it, and the best part is that I got it for FREE! Read all about it and see before and after photos here.

Be sure to check out the other participating bloggers’ projects below!

Chipped Plaster Brick Wall – faux technique

Today I’m sharing how I created this chipped plaster brick wall in my studio.    Chipped Plaster Brick Wall The TV will hang in the center of the wall so I only added the faux brick around the perimeter. In my last post, I showed you an update of the TV wall where I had installed brick paneling and then removed […]

Our New Keyless Lock for the Front Door

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Schlage®, but all opinions are my own.

Our front door isn’t in the best shape. Paint is chipping off in some places, and it was obvious that the previous owners had swapped out the old door knob and deadbolt for a different style, but you can still see the outline of the old one. The one that they swapped it out with isn’t the nicest, so we’ve had plans to get a new one for quite some time (and also to paint the front door, which we will get to! It’s still on the list.). We did finally cross off the first item from our list, and that was replacing the front door lock. We were excited to swap it out with a new keyless lock and pretty door knob from Schlage®.

Schlage® has a few different types of keyless electronic products—including the Schlage Touch™ lock, the Schlage Connect™ lock, and the Schlage Sense™ system. They are all convenient, secure and technologically advanced locks.

The Schlage Sense™ system is absolutely amazing. It’s designed to work with Apple HomeKit technology, which has key-free convenience and gives you the choice of entering your home using the lock’s illuminated touchscreen or with your iPhone. HomeKit also allows you to control the lock with your voice using Siri. We also do have the option of using a key if we want to.

I was impressed to find out that Schlage® locks are currently found in more than 40 million homes, so they must be doing something right! Their door hardware is durable and also comes in a variety of styles, and they offer the most technologically advanced locks, plus the convenience of keyless entry. We’ve been playing around with ours and it really is so cool. One thing I love about the keyless feature is the fact that if the boys get off the school bus before I make it outside to wait for them, they can unlock the door themselves by typing in the code. No need to wait outside in the heat or cold, and no need to risk them losing a house key or fumbling with it.

Installation was straightforward and didn’t require a professional, and you can definitely tell that the materials are high quality. It’s much more stylish than our old plain-jane doorknob and lock too. I like that we had different options of designs and finishes to choose from. We chose the Camelot style in the Aged Bronze finish.

Schlage® products are available online at Amazon and Build.com, as well as retail locations like the Home Depot and Lowe’s, and they are a cost effective way to freshen up your home for under $500 (prices for their products start at $35.99). The electronics come with a 3-year limited electronics warranty, which happens to be the best in the industry.

Would you love having the convenience of keyless entry? Let me know your thoughts!

“She Believed She Could So She Did” – Free Printable

If you don’t know my friend Dena from Hearts & Sharts (yes, that’s really her blog name), then you are missing out on some hilarity and some talent. She has an Etsy shop where she sells her cute, quirky creations, including throw pillow covers, printables, vinyl transfers for baby onesies, tote bags, and more. She does personalized custom orders too, like custom wedding and engagement gifts and custom portrait textile art. She illustrates her own designs and everything she makes is fun and reflects the fact that she doesn’t take herself too seriously. She has created a special printable exclusively for my readers (aka you!), with one of my very favorite quotes: “She believed she could so she did.” (Click here to see everything her shop has to offer!)

CLICK HERE for the free 8×10 download.

Isn’t it so cute? Click here to check out a fun video of Dena’s illustration process where you’ll see how this printable was made.

Be sure to visit Dena’s Etsy shop here, and you can visit her blog here. Thanks so much to Dena for offering this cute printable!
