Dining Room Refresh & Mid-Century Style Chairs

If you think I’m insane for working on a dining room refresh at the same time as the One Room Challenge AND while planning and hosting a family reunion, you would be correct! I am totally insane. But the good news is, it was worth it because so far I am really happy with all of the hard work I’ve put into the different spaces I’ve been working on.

Here’s what our dining room looked like “BEFORE,” shortly after we moved in.

Then, I gave it a makeover using what we already had, and it was ok.

We weren’t loving our dining table anymore (we bought it when we got married), but we didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a new one, so I decided to build one. I’ll be sharing all the details on the table and benches, and that beautiful rug very soon. For now, take a look!

The chairs on the ends came from Home Decorators Collection and I love the Mid-Century Modern style mixed with more contemporary and traditional elements in the room. (And in case you can’t tell, I’m having a moment with wishbone style chairs.) These are the Clark side chair in black, and while I had originally planned on using something more substantial at the ends of the table (and I still might eventually), for now, I love the simplicity of these. (P.S. Home Decorators Collection has tons of beautiful dining chairs to choose from.)

I actually really love them flanking our dresser/buffet too, so they might end up here eventually and serve as spare seating.

I think these chairs are a fun way of incorporating my husband’s minimalist, modern style with my eclectic-love-a-mix-of-everything style.

As for the table, I can’t wait to share all the details! The benches are the same ones I built for our entryway, but shorter. Also, the most common question I get about this room is about the paint color. It’s Benjamin Moore’s Nocturnal Gray.
