LEGO® SUPER HEROES SETS HELP CREATE FUTURE DIY-ERS

It’s no secret that I love building and creating things, and I’m happy to say that my boys love it too. They’re always interested in practicing with tools and building new things. One great way they’ve honed their building skills and used their creativity is with LEGO sets. Building with LEGOs is their own version of “DIY” as they create and use their imagination, while also improving their fine motor skills and using critical thinking as they troubleshoot and determine which piece fits where. They especially love LEGO® Super Heroes sets, and these are a great way to introduce make believe to children of all ages.

NOSTALGIA AND TRADITION

I cannot even begin to tell you how excited my older two boys were when they got the opportunity to receive LEGO® Super Heroes sets to put together. When they saw the sets, they both said, “These are exactly the ones we wanted!”. They were so happy!

They have been LEGO® fans practically their whole lives. My mother in-law saved all of my husband’s LEGOs from his childhood, so they were introduced to them early, and now they have a huge collection of their own. It’s one of their very favorite things, and it’s an activity their daddy loves to do with them. You’re never too young or too old to have fun with LEGOs! Plus, what boy doesn’t love super heroes? They’ve been running around wearing capes since they were toddlers.

Lego® Super Heroes sets are great for all ages and encourage a love for building and DIY!

DIY LEGO tray makes building easy

Aiden put together his set on a DIY LEGO tray I built for the boys to use. It’s constructed of scrap 1×4 boards, with handles on the sides and casters on the bottom so it can roll under the bed or sofa when it’s not in use.

LEGOS are for everyone!

LEGO offers age appropriate LEGO® Super Heroes sets, which are determined by the mini-figures, number of bricks, and/or complexity.

The three types are LEGO® Duplo (age 1 1/2 – 5), LEGO® Juniors (age 4+), and LEGO® Super Heroes (age 5+). Aiden is 7 years old and he received a LEGO® Super Heroes: DC Universe “The Batboat Harbor Pursuit” set (for ages 5+). He was able to read the instructions and put it together himself.

Jake is 5, and he received the LEGO® Juniors “Spider-Man Hideout” set. This one is for ages 4-7.

He looked at the pictures in the instruction book and put it together himself. I offered to help him but little mister independent really wanted to do it by himself. I was impressed by how easy the illustrations in the instruction booklet made it for him to understand.

Each LEGO® set was perfect for the boys’ age and skill level. They were both so happy and proud of themselves when they were done building. Of course I was proud of them too! In a few months Jonah will be old enough to start playing with LEGO® Duplos, and we can’t wait for him to join in the fun too!

The boys loved the vehicles that came with the sets. Their imaginations ran wild as soon as they finished putting them together.

Hours of fun!

They have spent hours playing with their new sets. They’ve loved super heroes practically since the moment they exited the womb, so these were perfect for them. Ultimately I think LEGOs are a great way to introduce kids to building and DIY. They get to experience the satisfaction of building something on their own and then they can use their imagination with it while they play.
