It’s time for Swap It Like It’s Hot! I always look forward to this fun series (organized by my friend Charlotte) where a bunch of bloggers team up to swap thrift store finds and make them over. Basically, we go thrifting, snag a few items for under $10 or so, and then ship them off to another blogger and let them work their magic on some or all of them. I received my items from Lynn from On Fern Avenue. (Affiliate links included in this post for your convenience.)
Here’s what I got:
So, while the little wooden shelf was really cute, I didn’t get a chance to make it over. (I’m picturing it painted a pretty blush color with the inside of the heart part painted gold, and hung in a little girl’s room!)
Let’s talk about the lobster bundt pan first. It was copper, which is cute, but we all know I am partial to gold, so he got a little spray paint makeover. I decided he might be cute hanging in a gallery wall arrangement, so I stuck him in the dining room just for fun. (I think he’ll end up in the boys’ room or the playroom though.)
As for the silver platter/chargers, I opted to just make over one of them for now. This one was almost a fail. I sprayed it with primer and then taped off half and sprayed it gold, but some overspray got on the primed part so I ended up saving it by going over that part with this chalk finish paint by Ceramcoat. (The color is “Whipped Cream.”)
Then, I used that same paint to stencil an “S” monogram on the gold part.
I used a picture hanging strip and added it to the gallery wall too.
Now, be sure to head over to Copper Dot Interiors to see what Karen did with the goodies I sent her. Here’s what I sent her:
Here’s the entire #SwapItLikeItsHot lineup! Most people got way more creative than I did, so be sure to check them out!
