Starting today, you can enter to win this gorgeous craftsman home in the idyllic college town of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of visiting the latest HGTV Urban Oasis home in Ann Arbor. This was our first visit to a HGTV home giveaway house as well as the city of Ann Arbor, and we came away extremely impressed. HGTV assembled a top flight group of professionals to design and build the home, and most of them were there to discuss the plans and final results.
A little background on the home. The renovated 1920s bungalow is in the unique Water Hill area close to the University of Michigan campus, and just a stones throw from the Big House (UofM football stadium), which makes it an ideal launching point for an awesome tailgate. The charming home features an all-new interior and exterior with touches that make it a hot property for sustainable urban living at its best.
“HGTV recognized Ann Arbor as a small, friendly town with big-city sophistication and selected the location-based on its proximity to the city’s most popular restaurants, shops and art galleries, close to schools, community parks and year-round activities,” said Ron Feinbaum, General Manager of HGTV Home Promotions.
Decorated by interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn, the approximately 1,500-square-foot, two-level home features two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths with an open concept living area. HGTV Project Manager Scott Branscom oversaw all the renovations, which included the addition of an entirely new second-floor master suite. Designed by Dawn Zuber of Studio Z Architecture and fully renovated by Maven Development, the feel of the home is best described as cozy, comfy and Craftsman-style, tweaked for the modern-day family. We chatted briefly with Zuber and we shared our love of the expansive entry which makes a small home feel almost grand. We’re not sure how they packed so much storage and bathroom space into the home but unlike our 1920’s bungalow, there is a huge walk-in closet and a bathroom fit for a king and queen.
With a fresh take on classic Craftsman colors historically appropriate to the architecture, the home also features handmade elements infused with hip, classic modern and mid century touches. The light-textured floors offer a perfect backdrop for the home’s gray-greens, rich pine tones and tranquil spa-like watery hues. The variety of green shades throughout blend beautifully with the outdoor landscaping, which sets the stage for a massive screened porch just off the completely rebuilt two-car garage. The Clopay Canyon Ridge garage door matches perfectly with the Clopay entry and rear door, creating a seamless transition between the two spaces. This forwarding thinking design element is common throughout the home, and the addition of the Clopay Avante interior garage door that opens to the screened porch will allow plenty of light throughout the year and you’ll remain comfy in the winter thanks to the Canyon Ridge 20.4 R-value.
Along with the contemporary Clopay garage doors, there are plenty of other state-of-the-art appliances throughout the home. Such as a Samsung refrigerator with an internal web cam so you know exactly what you need when grocery shopping, and spectacular Kohler fixtures throughout the home.
It’s hard to believe this entire home and everything in it can be yours by simply entering the giveaway but it’s true. During the sweepstakes entry period, which runs from October 4 through November 22, eligible viewers can enter twice per day online at HGTV.com/UrbanOasis for a chance to win the giveaway. The HGTV Urban Oasis 2016 grand prize winner will receive the completely remodeled and furnished home, plus $50,000 provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans®.
